Assist — the document chase, handled
The tedious part of every year-end is the chase: which documents have arrived, which haven't, and the third polite email asking for the March bank statement. Assist runs that chase with you — you approve every message — and hands over a pack an accountant can work from. Here is what it does, what it doesn't, and its exact status today.
£19.99/month
The AI reading, summarising and drafting features are in private beta and switch on for your account as we roll them out — client workspaces, checklists, tasks, e-signing and all six business tools work today.
The document chase, step by step
Four stages, in the order they happen. Each one names the control you'll actually press.
- 1
Collect the evidence
Create a client workspace — a limited company, sole trader or partnership — and link it to one of your companies so its filing deadlines fill themselves in. Generate the document checklist from a standard template, then shape it: add "Signed engagement letter" if that's what you need. Upload the documents as they arrive: PDF, Word, text or CSV. AI will read, categorise and summarise every upload (private beta).
On screen: A workspace header with deadline chips; the Document checklist panel with its own "add your own item" box; an Upload documents button. Each upload shows its category, page count and summary once read.
- 2
Spot the gaps
Press Check missing documents. Every checklist item comes back as received (with the document that satisfies it), needs review (with the reason) or still missing (with why it's needed) — plus duplicates spotted, questions to put to the client and suggested tasks you can accept in one click.
On screen: Three lists — Received, Needs review, Still missing — then "Ask the client" and "Suggested tasks", and a "To chase" summary ready for the next step.
- 3
Chase safely
Pick the email — missing-documents reminder, clarification request, deadline reminder, thank you or accountant follow-up — and get a draft to the right person listing exactly what's outstanding. Edit it, approve it, then send it from GoTaxes or copy it into your own mailbox. Nothing leaves without your explicit approval, and every action is written to the workspace activity log.
On screen: The Email drafts panel: draft → edit → approve → send. Below it, the AI activity log records each action with what went in and what came out.
- 4
Hand over, accountant-ready
Generate the pack: a structured summary of what was received, what's outstanding and what needs a decision, exported to Word or print-ready HTML. When you need a fact from the folder, ask it — answers cite the exact document and page they came from, so you can check rather than trust.
On screen: "Generate pack" with its section list and Word export; an "Ask the folder" box with the citations listed under each answer.
More business tools — included
Six modules come with the subscription and sit as tabs in every client workspace; use the ones each client needs. Everything they generate is a draft until you approve it, and their deadlines join your filing deadlines automatically.
- ✓Company records — officer and PSC registers prefilled from Companies House, shareholders, share transactions and dividends with vouchers, and the confirmation-statement checklist — every change journaled
- ✓Contracts + e-sign — 13 templates (NDA, consultancy, employment, tenancy and more): a short questionnaire, a draft with plain-English summary and attention flags, single-use signing links and an audit certificate when everyone has signed
- ✓Property — tenancies with a generated rent schedule, safety certificates whose renewal dates become deadlines, a compliance check, and arrears letters drafted from the actual payment history
- ✓Invoice chasing — customers and invoices in an overdue-first ledger, chasers on a friendly → firm → final ladder quoting the statutory interest you may claim, statements and payment plans
- ✓Tenders — attach the tender pack, extract every requirement into a compliance matrix with citations, draft answers from your reusable answer library, export the assembled bid to Word
- ✓HR — employees with an onboarding checklist seeded automatically (right-to-work first), holiday allowances, absence and training, and offer, reference and other letters
What Assist does not do
Said plainly, so the subscription buys what you think it buys.
Assist won't…
- ○Send anything on its own — every email and every generated document is a draft until you approve it
- ○Give tax advice — it organises, drafts and flags; AI output may need professional review
- ○Read scans or photos yet — OCR is coming; scanned documents are flagged for manual review instead
- ○Receive documents by email — you or your client upload them into the workspace
- ○File anything — filing lives in the company and Self Assessment products; Assist prepares the handover
- ○Train on your data — the AI features use Anthropic's Claude via the commercial API, which doesn't use customer data for training
If you hit the fair-use quota, uploads and AI actions pause until it resets at the start of the next month — nothing is deleted and everything already generated stays available. See the privacy policy for exactly what the AI sees.
